- From 9:30 till 12:30 every week, register members will be able to search the local papers and may use the in-house computer for searching the internet for suitable employment. Exchanging experience and knowledge within the group. The Computer is available after the job Club for CV writing, letters or job research.
- The job club is designed so that members can attend a 10 weeks training program and improve their job hunting skills. We train in a relaxed and practical way, helping you to build knowledge and confidence in presenting yourself.
- It is also possible to join the group for relevant sessions only. Please discuss your needs with Working for Opportunities.
WEEK 1: GETTING STARTED
- You will explore your skills and find out what skills are relevant when applying for vacancies. We will discuss jobs you would like to do or which would be suitable for you.
You will learn how to promote your skills.
What skills do you have and how can you use them?
- Your previous jobs
- Your work based skills
- Your transferable skills
- Your previous qualifications and training
- What do you want from a job?
WEEK 2: HOW TO FIND A SUITABLE VACANCY AND HOW TO RESEARCH YOUR TARGET JOB
- We will discuss job search opportunities and resources.
You will learn how to create your own action plan and to improve your job hunting skills.
Using all resources available:
- Find information and facts about the organisation
- Know where to look
- Know who to contact
- Learn more about professional language and how to improve your presentation
- learn how to present your skills in practical group exercises
WEEK 3/4: A WINNING CV
- You will learn how to write a good CV and how to match it to the job you are applying for. We will show you how to improve an existing CV.
CREATING A WINNING CV:
- Structuring your CV
- Content
- Perils and pitfalls of CV writing
WEEK 5: WHAT DO JOB ADVERTS REALLY TELL US?
You will learn how to analyse a job advert and how to do a job research. This will be the basis for your CV and interview knowledge.
- What do job advertisements tell you?
- What do you need to know?
- How do you interpret typical phrases
WEEK 6 / 7: HOW TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION FORM
- We will discuss typical application forms and their content
- You will learn how to master the dreaded “Blank Page” or “Further Information”
- You will learn how to structure and present your skills and qualifications
- How to use job descriptions and person specifications to shape your answers
WEEK 8: HOW TO BE CONFIDENT AT INTERVIEWS
You will learn how to take control of interviews and be the best applicant you can be.
- Be prepared and positive appearance
- Learn more about typical interview questions and how to answer successfully
- You will learn how to bring your personal needs into the interview and get answers to your questions.
- Body-language: What is it and how can I use it in an interview?
WEEK 9/10
- The Interview – demonstrating your competence, commitment and compatibility to achieve success.
- Now it’s your turn to use everything you learned and to join in group exercises offered.
